Introduction to MLL Case Studies

In the winter and spring of 2008, the MIENC sponsored four Music Learning Leadership Seminars to LLSN site leaders interested in development a curriculum for scale out dissemination for deepening the work of MIENC Learning Laboratory Schools and for creating new centers for MIENC practices. As a result of this work in Los Angeles (Music Center), Minneapolis (University of Minnesota), Baltimore (Arts Education in Maryland Schools), and Boston (New England Conservatory), the first Music Learning Leadership Certificate Program is taking place in the summer and following year in 2008-2009.

The seminar case studies presented and vetted this past year are organized here in four topics: 1) music learning as basic to human development, 2) music plus music integration curriculum and assessment practices, 3) integration of other subjects into music teaching and learning, and 4) conceptual frameworks and underlying practices of music learning leadership for whole school change.
